Bailey was with us for almost fourteen years. Every morning, he would wait by the back door while I made coffee, hoping we'd go for a walk. I still look toward that door out of habit. After bringing his ashes home, I made a little place for him beside a favorite photo. It's nice having him be part of our home in a different way.

She may no longer walk beside us, but those years are still ours.
